2021 has been good to artists who put in their maximum energy in building their crafts

Reasons

  1.  Programs were organized in zonal levels which engaged the fan base of artists.
  2. The region had some level of recognition with regards national programs such as GMB, Di Asa. GMB did well in promoting the way of life of Oti and also entertained as well, The Di Asa auditions in jasikan gave artist the platform to perform and also raised economic activities during the execution of the program.
  3. DJs clash has at least made the DJs to explore and built some form of togetherness, this has made DJs identified the genre of songs to play at a given program for a good transition.
  4. Songs of artist dropped during the year did well. To mention some of the artists; Kojo Krista, utensils, Qwaku messiah, network, Newton light, Ohene aces, Rapture, Flinky, Mc Zion, Ocran and many others.

Challenges

  1. The traditional media (radio) couldn’t give the artist the necessary free airplay for them to feel appreciated.
  2. Sharing of ideas by other friends to build the industry we always crave for has been a problem
  3. Territorial level of show business rendering artists zonal artists
  4. Lack of sponsorship from local businesses towards events.

Recommendations

  1. Chiefs and Elders should back entertainment and crafts with little resources to help songs of artists to be known.
  2. Offices should be set up to monitor how artists songs do for royalties to be paid to them.
  3. Regional based TV station should be set up to market artists, actors and actresses, politicians and more. Since Oti region is just a new region people don’t really know of.
  4. Event centers should be built and leased for hiring.
  5. Tourist sites should be marketed using modern means to attract visitors for revenue and a source of employment for young ones.
  6. Artists should try and also include the media in anything they do in order to make news for fan base and public feeds.
